Reach: Europe's Leading Incubator for Data-Driven Start-ups & SMEs

The REACH Incubator project, generously supported by the European Commission, was a pioneering effort to streamline the data economy in Europe, with a strong focus on dismantling data silos and facilitating efficient data access, sharing, and reuse, all while maintaining stringent security and trust parameters. Serving as a catalyst for innovation, REACH fostered the development of secure and trusted data value chains spanning various sectors, and paved the way for the introduction of advanced data-driven products and services in the market.

In collaboration with Europe’s top data-driven Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs), REACH successfully supported over 100 SME business ideas, allocating a total of €3.5M in funds. The project's primary objective was to showcase the potential of a cross-sectorial incubator in driving sustainable, data-driven solutions by dismantling Data Silos.

REACH also established a comprehensive virtual and physical ecosystem, backed by existing DIHs and competence centers specializing in trusted and secure data value chains. This ecosystem encouraged pilot projects and innovation spaces to experiment with both proprietary industrial data and personal data.

Moreover, the incubator shared the outcome of these experiments, their economic and societal impact for companies and citizens across Europe, and ensured the sustainability of the REACH data-driven innovation hub beyond the project's lifespan, supported by other initiatives of Common European Data Space, including the Big Data Value PPP.
