Fe/male Switch

Jane Austen once said:

“I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of rational creatures. None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives.”

What is Bias Score?

The best way to fight bias is through a systematic approach. Acknowledging that we are biased is the first step to fixing the issue. To fight stereotypes about women in tech and help bridge the gender gap, we created Fe/male Switch, a nonprofit that aims to educate, empower and support women in their startup journey. Our goal is to get more women into IT and startups and fight gender bias together by showing the world what women can achieve if given opportunities and fair treatment.

Women are a minority in the entrepreneurial world, so it's no surprise that they may be hesitant to enter this world with little or no support. We wanted to create a space where women can build themselves from the ground up, become a part of the community, gain confidence, learn from their mistakes, and realize that in the end no prejudices or stereotypes in the world can stop them from pursuing their wildest dreams.

Being avid entrepreneurs, we are always looking for scalable solutions to problems: to fight gender bias in text, we started the BS (Bias Score) project and you, participants of the startup game, can help collect data for a Bias Score algorithm, which will allow anyone to verify how biased their written speech is.
